Twisters Sign Molinari!

Massachusetts Twisters owner Paul LaPointe announced yesterday that the club has signed Argentine midfielder Federico Molinari for the 2006-07 season. Molinari is the first new player signed for the Twisters this season.

“We’re very excited to have Frederico,” said LaPointe. “He will add a strong midfield presence for the Twisters, and we look forward to his becoming a key component of our 2006-07 club.”

A native of La Plata, Argentina, Molinari played first and second division soccer in his home country before coming to the United States to ply his trade. He joined the Western Mass Pioneers in 2003, and made an immediate impact, scoring seven goals and adding three assists in 20 games. After two years abroad, he returned to the Pioneers this summer, scoring two goals and adding two assists in 19 matches.

The Twisters will open their 2006-07 campaign on December 2nd, when they travel to Cincinnati to take on the 2005-06 champion Excite. They will open the home portion of the schedule on December 16th when they will host the New York Empire at the Eastern States Coliseum.

Per league regulations, terms of the deal are not released.
