It’s Gonna Be a Big One This Saturday Night! Excite to Face Massachusetts With Playoff Berth at Stake!
In what might be the biggest game in the four-year history of the team, the Cincinnati Excite will host the Massachusetts Twisters this Saturday night at the Game Time Training Center with a berth in the American Indoor Soccer League Championship Game at stake.
By virtue of their hard-fought 10-8 victory over the Tulsa Revolution last Saturday night, the Excite are currently in second place in the AISL with a 5-6 record. The Twisters, who had a bye last weekend, are just one game behind the Excite at 4-6.
The game is doubly important to the Excite, as the Twisters currently hold the tiebreaker over the Excite, as the defending AISL champions hold a 2-1 advantage in the season series in 2007-08. However, one thing that the Excite has in its favor is that the Twisters have never won a game in Cincinnati.
“I can’t stress how important this game is,” said Excite owner Dave Galus. “We need the support and the sound of a big crowd to help us solidify our place in the AISL Championship Game. Although the Rockford Rampage are having an amazing season, we feel that in a one-game series, anything can happen.”
After Saturday night’s game, the Excite will go on the road for their final two games. On March 1st, the Excite will travel to Rockford to take on the Rampage. One week later, coach Craig Rhodis’ crew will end the regular season by taking on the Northern Illinois Rebels in Waukegan, IL.
After Saturday, the Twisters will have three games remaining, all at home. They will face Northern Illinois in a doubleheader March 1st and 2nd, and end the season vs. the undefeated Rockford Rampage.
